Special Events

1.  ECUMENICAL SERVICES - St. Eugene Catholic Church, First United Methodist Church, and the Federated Church of Weatherford hosted/participated in three Ecumenical Prayer Services.  The first one (Jan. 18, 2009) was held at St. Eugene Catholic Church, with a Federated Church representative leading the service, Rev. Lynn Brock (Metholist Church) preaching.  The second (Jan. 25, 2009) was at United First Methodist Church, with Rev. Linda Sherry (Federated Church) preaching, and Father Mark Mason (St. Eugene Catholic Church) leading the service.  The last service was on Ash Wednesday (Feb. 25, 2009) at noon.  It was held at the Federated Church, with Father Mark Mason (St. Eugene Catholic Church) preaching, and Rev. Lynn Brack (First United Methodist Church) presiding.  These days call us to penance and reconciliation, and to a conversion of heart.  The three churches have much in common, and it was an excellent opportunity to come together in prayer and worship.  Thank You to all who participated. 

2.  CATHOLICS RETURNING HOME was intoduced at St. Eugene Catholic Church in 2008/2009.  The first session was after Christmas, and the second session was after Easter.  Parishioners place signs in their yards before class sessions and store them between sessions.  We invite all non-practicing Catholics to consider renewing relationships with the Catholic Church.  No strings attached.  Announcements are made in the bulletins on when to place the signs in yards, requests for prayers for the ministry, and starting dates of classroom sessions. 

3.  MARRIAGE PREPARATION classes meet in the rectory for seven times. Meetings are with Father Tran and a married couple in the parish. 

4.  JOURNEY IN FAITH (ALSO KNOWN AS RCIA)  meets on Mondays in the  Religious Education Building at 7:00 p.m.  Classes begin in September each year and culminate at the end of the university school year.  At eh first session materials and resources are given to participants, team members are introduced, and classes are outlined.
